About This Spot
Stepping into AZZ! Italian Tavern along the charming Corso Italia, you immediately sense a vibrant, welcoming energy that feels both lively and unpretentious. This is the kind of place where the rhythm is set by genuine human connection—the warm greetings at the door, the easy laughter bouncing from one table to the next, and the subtle hum of anticipation as guests wait patiently for their turn. There’s a comforting buzz here, a reminder that Italy’s best moments often unfold around shared meals and heartfelt conversation.
Time flows at a natural pace, never hurried yet always moving, as the line of eager diners shows. There’s a sense of community in the air—a family-owned spirit that you can feel in every detail, from the attentiveness of the staff to the occasional presence of Nino, the friendly family dog who adds an extra touch of home. Whether you’re settling in for a leisurely sit-down or popping in for a quick espresso, the atmosphere invites you to relax and savor the moment.
The food here is a quietly joyful exploration of Italian tradition, where each bite tells a story rooted in local flavors and simple craftsmanship. Imagine tender pasta dishes that make the most of the fresh, sun-soaked produce nearby and hearty plates that feel as comforting as a warm embrace. There’s the richness of a slowly baked lasagna, the delicate balance of a Caprese salad brightened by fragrant olive oil, and the playful twist of a perfectly cooked pizza that suggests a kitchen at ease but always attentive to detail.
Guests often find themselves discovering unexpected highlights—the softness of freshly made gnocchi, the spice-kissed warmth of a thoughtfully spiced penne, or the light, sweet charm of a tiramisu that rounds out the meal with just the right touch of indulgence. Drinks complement the experience with their own personality, from a brisk Aperol spritz to refresh after a warm day, to a carefully poured glass of wine that lingers as an extension of the conversation.
AZZ! Italian Tavern is not just about food—it’s about gatherings, small celebrations of place and time where visitors and locals alike become part of a shared story. It’s a spot where waiting in line feels less like a delay and more like joining a communal moment, a pause full of quiet excitement for what’s to come. We knew this place was popular and we can see why. The food and service was excellent. We also found that the line moved quickly but didn’t feel rushed to eat. Pictured is the Gnocchi alla Sorrentona and the Fettuccine Alfredo. We also tried the lasagne and two pizzas, as well as desserts which were amazing. Oh and Nino the dog is very cute.

AMAZING! Family owned restaurant. The son Thomas is the nicest person. The food was out of this world. We got a pizza with half cheese because my girlfriend doesn’t eat cheese, and they accommodated no problem. Also served us drinks while we were waiting in line. All together the food, service, and energy was amazing. HIGHLY recommend!

Totally worth the wait! The best food we had in Sorrento! When we arrived, there were three groups ahead of us waiting for a table. When we sat down, there were at least 10 groups deep in line waiting for their table. We ordered bruschetta, caprese, lasagna special with wine, their homemade and most tenderest meatballs we’ve ever had, basically to die for. and their profiteroles (amazing!) A must visit stop while in Sorrento! Due to dietary needs in our party, was looking forward to trying their soup but they were not serving any. No big deal, we were very satisfied with our choices!

Worth the wait!! We made the mistake on our first night of lining up but didn’t hang around long enough for a table. We went a little earlier last night at 7:30pm and stayed in line - it actually moves fairly quickly. There is no booking and they manage the line very fairly. It was totally worth the wait - I understand all the good reviews now. Compared to many other places the food was excellent and the prices very reasonable including the aperols and wine. The atmosphere is great and they don’t rush you to turn over the table - as the sign says on the wall. Free wifi Go early if it suits.

This place is welcoming and warm, for a quick stop in for an espresso, or a terrific sit-down brunch. The owners greeted us and were very accommodating throughout or meal. The local tomato & greens salad was my standout surprise; the local tomatoes are so juicy and sweet, the greens were refreshing, not bitter, and the light olive oil dressing is simple and citrusy. The owner cooked our tomato soup from scratch per order, the Italian sausage blossomed in the mouth with a uniquely complex flavor, and the eggplant parmigiana is the only one my wife has ever had that was better than her own. This was a perfect lunch for us.

We had the most amazing dining experience here! The cannelloni were by far the best we’ve ever tasted in Italy—perfectly cooked pasta, rich filling, and a sauce that was absolutely unforgettable. To top it all off, the tiramisu was out of this world—light, creamy, and simply the best we’ve had during our entire trip. If you’re looking for authentic flavors and unforgettable dishes, this is the place to go!

5-stars all around! I must say, we were absolutely blown away at the quality and taste of the food here. So much so, that we actually visited twice in one week! And yes, we waited in line both times for about an hour, but it was totally worth it! We had the garlic bread, meatballs, pizza, Cacio e Pepe, Ravioli, and Gnocchi. The meatballs were so soft and literally melt in your mouth. They are perfectly seasoned and the sauce is so well balanced. I could honestly say these are the best meatballs I’ve ever had. And the pizza was so much better than any pizza I had in Naples too. All the pasta was perfectly cooked and every dish came out steaming hot. A few things to note: Yes, there is a long line every day. But trust me, it is worth the wait. The staff works very hard to get tables cleaned as quickly as possible. Also, the food here takes a lot of time to prepare, because the chef makes everything fresh. Be prepared to wait, relax and enjoy some of their house wine! I cannot wait to come back to Sorrento and visit AZZ! again!
